OOoohhhhh look at me! I've got a blog, I've got something important to say! Blah blah blah.

It's been a while, but I've been pretty busy. So lets begin! First off, I didn't book a room in my current hostel fast enough on Monday, so I had to move to another Hostel. It was on the edge of East Hastings ( the dodgy part of town) but it was a fiver cheaper a night. So had to pack all my stuff, and lug it down to a new hostel. My new room mate who was from Chile and doing the same thing as me, and had been looking for work for two weeks, but with no success, we went to a supermarket and he gave his excess clothes away to a random homeless guy which was pretty cool. Then when I was cooking dinner I met another random English guy who had been looking for work for 7 weeks! SEVEN WEEKS! I'll be on the road if I don't find anything in the next two weeks, if you don't find anything after a month its time to give in I reckon. Still I went for a drink with him at the Hostels attached pub, he was a pretty nice guy, and one of his random friends joined us as well. It was pretty darn good. Random sites in the pub garden included: some people who pretty much hired a homeless guy for a singalong, and some other people who bought a painting of another homeless guy. Apparently when you get drunk round here its not uncommon to wake up next to a piece of hand crafted tat you bought of a homeless guy. I will probably move back to the other Hostel after my time runs out at this one, as I moved back here the next day. Tuesday the job hunt continued and still had no luck, it was pretty hot. Not much else to report really. Wednesday was Canada Day, a national Holiday that celibates the day that Canada unified into one marvelous country. Me and JP went to a "Beach BBQ" that the Hostel and SWAP had organized. It was pretty dire. For a start the beach was a ten minute walk away, we were penned in this little area with orange nets, and kinda looked like convicts on day release. We also saw Rosie and Chloe and there new room mate (who's name escapes me at the moment). Rosie and said new room mate fooked off to some other beach party, and just kind of abandoned poor old Chloe with us. (I think theirs some lady politics going on, that me and JP are staying well away from). So the three of us went to a 'Dennys' which is apparently an American institution, there a bit like Little Chef. But good. Then we went to a Comedy night, which was really funny, and it gives you a look into how Vancouvians think. I learnt that the Chinese drive really slowly. Vancouvers homeless are not like other places because "they have jobs, they just really like camping".
Finally today.. more job hunting, the two lowest points of the great job hunt happened today:-
  • I handed a guy my Resume, he had just washed his hands but not dryed them. He chucked my now soggie resume into a corner. Won't be hearing from that one.
  • In Canada, Managers are so slow to sort jobs you have to chase them up. I chased up the first job that had looked promising today, to discover they had lost my Resume, and thought I was some one else.
Still, gotta keep it up. I've pretty much blanked central VC now, just gotta follow up the promising one's and then start doing the student area in south VC tomo. Ahhhhh!
