A seal. More job hunting. Rain.

Not much to report really people! Sunday I moved back to the Downtown Hostel, and met my new Australian room mate who is a nice guy. He gave me a number for a guy who might be looking for laborers which he had got of the bulletin-in board of another hostel, alas when I rang the number it was 'no longer connected', another dead end. He s also has a working visa and is working in the area of air conditioning. It took him several weeks to find work as well. He's been giving me random moral building chats which has got me a bit more upbeat.
Monday I had my second interview. Well, it was an open interview so any old ruffian could turn up, and it was at the cinema.... working on a popcorn stall..... on min wage (which is $8 an hour out here, which is about 3.60 before tax!) I was lucky to be interviewed by someone who must have been the manager of the cinema or something. He must have been in his late 30's or early 40's and seemed pretty down to earth. He had a large list of questions like whats your favorite joke? What your favorite movie? Whats the hardest part of customer service? etc, but only asked me two of the questions, most of the time he was asking me about where I was from etc. It was more like the chat you have with a hostel room mate. I could tell he made his mind up almost instantly, but I don't know which way yet. Should get a call soon I guess.
Tuesday was a bit of a right off, I went down to Kitsalano to job hunt there. The place was dead, I only handed out 3 Resumes. It chucked it down with rain, I had the beggingings of a cold, I slept badly the night before. I looked like poop. So I didn't make to much effort to be honest. That evening me and JP walked round a bit of Stanley park. Highlight was seeing a lost and very anxious looking seal in the harbour bay. We were pointing at it and taking pictures, and the locals completetly ignored it. JP wanted me to club it, but I thought it was a bit vicious looking, so I gave it a miss.
Today has gone alright, I found two shops that were actually hiring. One was an indepedent music shop, I had a look round it while I was there, and found some bargains. Its a good job this computer doesn't have a CD drive to be honest. But I didn't get the feeling I would hear back from the guy. I also found a clothes shop that was hiring called "Big Tall Man"!? The attendent guy there was shorter than me though, so could still be a possibility. Finally I also joined up with an office work job agency. I don' really want to work in another office. But at this point you gotta take what you can get. He said they didn't have anything at the moment but might do soon..... just like every where else. I also got a phone call at 2ish that I missed, and as I was to tight to fork out $6 for caller ID I don't know who it was! They havn't rung back mind, so it can't have been that important.

Quote of the last few days "You shouldn't feed the fish. Let alone buscuits!" from the Coachtrip (channel 4 reality TV fluff) wikipedia entry.

Also last night I watched the Steve Irwin:- The Movie and it's as awesome as it sounds. Steve Irwin is a shocking actor. Its like the writer and director new it was going to be crap, so they activley made it as bad as possible. Its defo one of though's its so bad its good films.
