JOB! ... and relax!

Wednesday was a complete write off on the job hunting front in the morning, I handed out a couple more Resume's to a few random places. But now I know they collect them like there fooking Pokemon, and have no intent on ringing you, I was feeling pretty disheartened. It was stupidly hot, I went for a coffee and finished off my book (I highly recommend Addition, a book about a women who can't stop counting Everything. It won the Richard and Judie Summer book of the year award. So it must be good). I didn't want to chase the hopeful places as I thought it was to soon, so I headed home. On my walk back I got a phone call telling me that I had the dishwashing gig at Joeys bar and Grill (its a small upmarket chain restaurant.) smack bang in the middle of the city. I know its an extremely crap job, but I Really don't care at the moment, it will allow me to get a place sorted, and begin building some sort of proper life. I'm getting fed up of making friends and them going home. I want a place I can take my stuff out my rucksack and put stuff in draws! Also I might be able to get bar work or kitchen work at Joeys later on, the place is huge. That evening I celebrated with a Chinese and a cigarette, then went out for a walk and chat with some random guy I met in the hostel, he seemed alright at first... but more on him later.

Thursday I got up, and didn't have to do anything for the first time in weeks. So I had a little lie in, then got up, decided I'd had enough of walking and would do something that involved sitting still. So I went and watched 'Moon' ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0j_ONmVcXA ) at the cinema, its a cracking film. About an astronaut who works on the moon looking after this moon base on his own, and has been there for three years. Then with two weeks to go until home time, he starts to go a bit mental, and see things. The best character in it is GERTY 3000, the HAL like robot assistant with a coffee tray, and displays his emotions through emoticons on a little screen. Definitely worth seeing. Then that evening me and Michael went and had a couple of pints down in Grands ville, we tried a couple of different pubs. I had know idea he is 30 and is going out with some girl who is 9 years younger than him. What a legend!

Today JP had the day off work, and he got a phone call of Rosie, so we joined them at Templetons for some food, and got the latest gossip on the continuing lady politics of there house. (They don't like Chloe (for some very dubious reasons), and are going ditch her when the contract runs out. Me and JP have a bet on who's door step she will land on when the shizzle hits the fan). In other news Rosie is scared of the skunks that she sees on the way home, and Maddie has had her lip pierced. Then me and JP went the cinema and watched Hurt Locker. Its alright, its about a bomb diffusel squad in Iraq, it tries to consider the emotions of the men in a very tough situation. But its all been done before. Watch it on DVD. This evening me and Micheal were trading some music when they guy I went for a random walk with on Wednesday pitches up, he start talking about politics, and starts slowly drifting down the path of 'nutter'. Obama is evil! 9/11 was a fix! I was going to go swimming with him tomorrow, but on second thoughts, I'll give it a miss. I was bored this evening, so I went down Stanley Park to watch the Sun set over the ocean and mountains. There was some MC's or 'Rappers' for any of you not down with the kids, and they were bloody amazing. There lyrics were mainly about their hippie (and very vancouvian) philosophy on life, mixed in between lyrics about who ever was walking by. I thought they must have set piece lyrics for different people, e.g 'man with bike' or 'girl with pram'. But I sat and listened for two hours, and non of them repeated a rhyme, listening to them was kind of addictive, you just wanted to see what they were going to come up with next, and how there victims would react. So a good few days! I'm feeling a happy again and not just 'upbeat'! Huzza!

Quote of the week:-

"Smile if you Masturbate"

I know! Very childish and stupid! But it did make me... well.... smile. It was written on a piece of cardboard being carried by one of Vancouvers ever creative homeless.

I really want to see 'Moon', it looks like classic old skool sci-fi suspense, might even be up there with the original 'Alien' from what I've read. And it's directed by David Bowie's SON!

Obama's not evil (if the rambly guy weirded you out, you should probably avoid so-called documentary 'the Obama Deception'); but he's already gone back or compromised on most of his ideals. Democrats - different wing, same headless chicken!
