Decemberists! Fireworks! Apartments!?

More news from the front line! So after the last update on Tuesday I went to see the Decemberists, an American prog/folk/indie type band. I had recently pilfered one of their albums of the Inter-tubes as Rosie said she wanted to go, but she ended up working so me and Maddie went instead. It was one of the best Gigs I've been to in years, definitely in my top 10. It was good to get back to giging in a major city as well, were people actually want to stand at the front and not the back like Oxford, and didn't stand there looking all self conscious. After me and Maddie had a few drinks in a near by Bar, and I rolled into the Hostel kitchen to empty the free shelf at 3am.
Next days highlights included viewing an apartment in china town ( quite close to the rundown east Hastings area. Close enough to for rent to be dirt cheap. But far enough away not to get a guarnteed mugging as soon as the sun sets). It was a nice place, with a huge room, so I will give the guy a ring back and see if he wants me after I have finished this. After that Me, JP, Rosie, Maddie, and Chloe went and watched a fireworks display in English Bay, it was the "largest barge based fireworks display in North America" or something. I thought it was pretty good, a half hour long display with some mahoosive fireworks. But the others thought it was crap, so I'm guessing I'm probably in the wrong. After we went back to Brewster-Sandiego-Heath residence and had a few beers, before heading home a tiny bit drunk. I did my mandatory free shelf check before heading to bed.
Yesterday I had a look for a second hand bike, as I will need one if I'm going to commute from Chinatown to my job, as its better than the 20 minute walk. Found a couple of alright models. But might have to scan craigslist instead. I also started trying to memorize my new recipes, which I can't test due to lack of having a deep fat frier (or enough cash to buy a fricken Tuna Steak!) Going to give my new boss a ring in a bit and see what he wants me to do about it in a bit. I also watched most of Garth maringeas Dark Place series one, which is awesome if any one wants to watch its all on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNfQ0ORwSDM ).
Today I have got up, moved to the Cambie Hostel, as the downtown Hostel was full, made an arse of myself at there reception, and checked the Internet here. That's about it.

Another slightly quiet period for quotes, so here are the two best:-

"Do we have to because of horses?"

Rosie. After the fireworks display about 200 police descended onto the beach. We were going to stay and carry on drinking, but mounted police forced us to leave. Just as we were going, Rosie comes out with that beauty.

"I had a cat once. I dropped a sofa on it. It was a right off! I had to stand on its head."

Garth Marangies dark place, episode one. Loads of famous comedians in it. Check it out!
