Its Monday Evening, I've just finished work and eaten some veggie spag bol. Its time for... my latest blog entry.
So first of Work.... They have changed my start time from 10 to 9, so I do 5 more hours a week now. This is so I can start doing fry prep, which involves cooking gyoza shells (probably called something completely different in the UK, after looking for Coriander for weeks over here, I finally googled it to find out they call it Cilantro, and I've been using the stuff every day at work with nay idea.) I'm not to happy about this, but I think it will be less hassle than I initially thought, but tomorrow is a busy day, so see what happens then I guess. Last week was the first time I've done a full week on 9-5 with no lunch, and I was bloody shattered by Friday. I'm going to start looking for another job soon I think. This is now to much work, and not enough holiday. I'm starting to get that 'can't be bothered' mentality back, that I didn't have two weeks ago.
And on a lighter note, the last week has been pretty good with the exception of work. On Friday Me Rosie and JP went for some drinks on Granville street. I got home about midnight, it was a good, but pretty uneventful night. On Saturday, me JP and Chloe went and watched Toy Story I and II at the cin... theatre. Its the first 3D film I've seen, and thought the 3D effect was impressive. The only problem being the Toy Story Films weren't designed to be in 3D, so some time the effect would draw your eye to the wrong bit of the picture. In one scene Woody's scarf was all I could look at, because it looked Massive and 3D! After that the three of us met up with Rosie for some grub at Templetons. This time I tried the lentil loaf. Cracking. Pudding was Cinnamon peach and Raspberry crumble. Also Cracking. After that I decided to ride out the ensuing sugar rush by watching some jazz at a club on Granville with Rosie. When we got into the club, we were surprised to find that they weren't playing jazz, but blues. And everyone in there was around my parents age, and they were really going for it on the dance floor. It was a bit like being at a wedding party. Rosie said it was the best people watching she had ever done, and I would agree. Props to the women in the red dress who was giving it her all, despite having no sense of rhythm, and she was massive. The place got rammed and after a while a couple of guys joined our table since sitting room was minimal. As soon as they noticed out accent we got the usual were/why/how questions that every working traveller gets, not that I'm complaining. I told them about being a dishwasher by trade, and they when I asked what they did they said 'were in the movie business' when Rosie asked what part they didn't really seem to want to say. So we assumed porn stars. But it later turned out one of them had built part of the set for X-files! To think I shared a table with him! When they left, they ambiguously invited us back to there place. I'm not sure if it was for the night, to live, or just an invite for Rosie. We left at about midnight, and while smoking this weeks last cigarette, were accosted by a homeless guy with an awesome blue busted up guitar, he was singing bob Marley stuff, and had an awesome voice, the kinda voice that takes a lot of cigarettes, alcohol and rough living to acquire. Soon there were six of us listening to him. He was rudely interrupted by some knob who thought he would MC along to the guitar, even though he was crap. His ultimate downfall was asking us to think of three words that he had to get into his track. We chose Horse, Cabbage and Cupboard. He only managed horse. Badly. He was kind of helped out by the homeless guy singing "I rode a horse through a cabbage patch, cabbage is good for you" as some kind of Corus. He got $2 each from me and Rosie, $5 from some other guy, One cigarette, and a plastic bottle of coke with vodka in it. I gotta do a top 5 Vancouver bums run down some time.
Sunday I did nothing massively worth mentioning. Highlight was the skype session with my parents and El. *Waves* Its the first time I had seen El in the three and a bit months I've been out here. My appearance on screen alone bought her to tears. Which was nice. I made myself sweet and sour Tofu for tea, and watched Away We Go. (Full Film:- http://quicksilverscreen.com/watch?video=87561) a cracking film about a couple who are trying to decide were in the US they want to live before there child is born. Highly recommended! Thats about it!
Quote a Goat!
JP Shooter:- "Amateur Porn Star? That just means he's taken a picture of his Balls and put them on the Internet."
I laughed for a long time at this. Some might say to long. Others might say just about right.
Teresa:- "Your cleaning the inside of the machine again then Greg?"
Me:- "Yup. One day, I'm going to climb in, shut the door, and see how long it is before anyone notices I'm missing"
I have to clean the inside of the dish washer, and its bloody massive, and Steamy, probably very good for your skin mind.
This weeks random topic shall be:-
Crossing the road! So in Canada, the pedestrian has right of way most of the time. If your on a quiet back street without lights, then you can cross were ever you want and the Car has to stop. There are also pedestrian crossings on the slip roads of the highway, and using them is terrifying, because when your half way across some car comes hurtling around a corner, and your never sure if its going to stop in time. Also not having to look left and right before crossing a minor junction is going to get me killed when I get back to the UK.
