Sup Cats and Kittens, should be a short one this week, and mainly quote based due to not a lot happening.
So the last week at work has been pretty hectic, and I've stilled not mastered everything. But I've discovered something very important: The taller your piles of Calamari and Chili Chicken, the happier the head chef (who decides if you keep your job) is with you. He constantly praises my 'food presentation', the fact that I can't wash all the dishes in time and leave crap were ever I go doesn't matter, as long as you can create a tower of Calamari as phallic as possible, life is good. Yesterday I got to work the line for 3 hours which was pretty good. My shift finished at 8, and I arrived for the lunch time rush, prepped food for a few hours, spent one hour washing dishes, and then spent the last 2 hours on the line. Its fun working the line in the evening, there is less pressure than the lunch time rush, but its busy enough for the team work and food to flow pretty nicely. But today was a complete right off, the dish wash area was a mess, and I was getting grumpy. Hopefully a good nights sleep will help.
Weekends have, in many ways, also been fairly quiet. I've been going drinking at the Cambie pub, one of Vancouver's fine rock, indie, and metal based establishments, and rolling in at horrendous times in the morning on Fridays. Last week me JP and Maddie went, the week before it was me Maddie and Rosie. Me and JP went for a walk round the bay last Wednesday, and had a poke around the 2010 Olympic village as the sun was setting, which was pretty good. On Thursday me Maddie and Rosie and a couple of Rosie's friends went for a drink, one of Rosie's friends was from Birmingham and traveling around Canada for 10 weeks. He had a really thick brummie accent. With the exception of him being an ex raver, we had nothing in common, and he told me "if you don't like football, then your not English", so normally the kind of guy I would hate, but its been so long since I've been in the UK and hung around yobbo types, that I really enjoyed talking to him. I also went to see District 9 on Saturday, which is surprisingly good, though it had a crappy open ending -I hate it when films do that-, and also seemed very half-lifey. On Sunday me and Maddie went to watch 'Inglorious Bastards', which is a cracking film, definitely one of Tarantion's finest. The German officer in it is one of my favourite film characters ever, and afterwards we went for Maddie's last drink in Vancouver before she returned home.... well she said it would be her last drink, but knowing her she would have snuck one in on Monday with Rosie. The question is:- Will she get a work visa and return?
Quote Time!:-
"I feel drunk... but in my head?"
JP on how the beer on Friday was affecting him. It might also explain this next one:-
JP:-"Isn't he thinner now than in the photo?"
Bouncer:- "Not really, he looks the same to me"
"Nah, he has lost weight. I'm concerned."
The funny thing is JP just got this conversation going with the bouncer as if someone had to know immediately. I know he reads this. So sorry mate.
And finally, Mad Phil Returns! With his finest Quote ever.
"The people in this city are so grumpy. I just got my passport photo taken, and when I looked at them, I looked, well, kinda mad."
We just bumped into Mad Phil on Saturday morning outside a newsagents Mad Phil doesn't know his nickname is Mad Phil. So this was comedy gold. Maddie was in hysterics, I tried to keep a straight face, but struggled.
"Fuck my shitty Life!"
Call sign of Bing at work. Joeys is a positive team working environment. So it was pretty funny when you hear Bing shouting that in the middle of a lunch rush. Hes gone now mind. Just didn't turn up at work on Monday.
