Whistler! More Drinking! Two Blog posts will be required!

Its been a while! Shall we begin?

First off, there will be another post some time later this week, with work based developments. But this one is going to concentrate on this weekend. So on Friday, after another hectic week in the kitchen me and JP met up with Chloe for some food down Good Ol' Tempeltons. We now go so regularly that the waitress doesn't charge us for drinks. Which I didn't notice, but JP helpfully pointed out to me. I had a chicken burger and a pair crumble type thing for pudding, it was cracking, like usual. With work being so busy I don't have time for lunch, so I was ravenous, and scoffed the lot including some of JP fries as well. We were later joined by Chloe's housemate Monique, and decided a few drinks were in order. We tried a couple of new bars that we hadn't been to before, that were fairly reasonable by Vancouvian standards. Then we went to some super trendy bar, were me and Chloe felt a little out of place with our non-latest-fashion togs. I was also carrying a backpack with my extremely odorous work clothes in to complete the look. We also met a legendary Netherlander called Barry, more on him to follow in a bit. Chloe and Monique invited me along to Whistler the next day, and I said I'd be up for it. In bed by 2ish.... woke up at 7:30. Feeling a little special.

The next day was spent doing slightly dull weekend type stuff in the morning. I made a batch of bollanaise and chucked it in the freezer after buying the required stuff from China Town market. I also did my washing, and generally let my hang over reduce. I eventually got a call from Chloe saying they had finally sorted plans for Whistler, we had a place to stay, and a ride! Huzza! I got round there place at 6:30 ish. Beers and change of clothes in hand. We set of in the car, our driver was Linda, one of Moniques work colleagues, and Steve also came along, also a work colleague. Linda had managed to get this place to stay, it was an unused house, what with a lot of people living up in Whistler when the snow hits around October. The weather had also improved from the rain of the last few days it was cloud free and sunny again. Probably around 22 C. After a stop for a burger and a hilarious joke on Steve were we moved the car, we finally arrived in Sunny Whistler. The views along the way were amazing. The road is called the 'Sea to Sky Highway' for a good reason. See the photos on facebook! When we got to the our abode for the night non of us could quiet believe it . It was more of a mansion really. Three garages, five bedrooms, a ridiculous number of bathrooms, one of them showers that sprays from the walls as well, it had it all. Linda wouldn't tell us what the guy did, so I'm assuming drug dealer or human trafficing. The first thing we all did on arriving was send texts to various friends along the line of "OMG! OMG! STAYING IN A MANSION! LULZ! GG! :-D XXX".... or at least that's what mine said. We got into our party clothes, and began drinking, smoking and listening to music. Around 11 we headed into Whistler and hit one of the clubs. It was alright, a good mix of music, some R&B, but also some dubstep, so can't complain really. It got a little messy, but we found our way home around 3ish. The cab took a while to come so I called back to check what was going on. Turns out its busy 3am on Sunday! But on the way back we could hear them on the drivers intercom going "have you picked up Grieg?" So my phone call obviously did the trick. The next day we got up and tried to find some were to eat, the first place we tried wanted us to wait 15 Min's for a seat, and 40 Min's for food. So we went to a supermarket and bought the required items for a full English, and cooked it back at the pimps house. Still all feeling the worse for wear after last nights exploits we stayed in and didn't go and check out Whistlers many awesome outdoor acivities. But Swordfish is a good film, and as Whistler is only two hours away, I'm sure we will be back. The drive back was also pretty good, the sun was starting to set, Death Cab for Cutie was playing, and we stopped to take generic tourist photos. Good times! When I got back, I bought a octopus and seaweed take away, which was very tasty, and surprisingly sweet. I sorted work clothes, and collapsed into bed.

Quote time:-

"The population of the Netherlands is 400 people per square kilometer... over here its... Two! Unbelievable!"
A nice fact Barry, but not your normal flash bar topic of conversation topic, especially if your chatting some one up.

Barry:-"Are you a hands or brain person... I mean No Offense guysh! No Offense!:"
Me:- "I thought I was a brain person.... turns out I'm a hands person."

Good ol' Barry! Still don't know how that could offend some one.

"On your right you will see the mining museum. Want me to slow down so you can take some pictures?"

Linda doing the tour guide thing for the Whistler first timers.
